Toyota has unveiled a striking new concept version of the Corolla at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, offering a glimpse of what’s next for one of the world’s most recognisable nameplates. Now in its thirteenth generation, the upcoming Corolla is expected to bring a complete transformation in design, technology, and powertrain options.
The new Corolla Concept marks a bold step forward from its predecessor, blending futuristic proportions with design elements inspired by Toyota’s bZ electric series and the latest Prius.

The front end features a full-width LED light bar with sharp, L-shaped daytime running lights and additional slatted LEDs integrated into the air dam. A steeply raked windshield, sculpted bonnet, and 21-inch Y-spoke wheels complete its aggressive stance.

In profile, the sedan carries a coupe-like roofline with pronounced creases along the doors, a charging port flap on the front fender, and blacked-out pillars that create a floating roof effect. At the rear, a ducktail spoiler, edge-to-edge LED light bar, and squared-off bumper give it a wide, planted look.

Inside, Toyota has opted for a clean, minimalist layout that emphasizes space and technology. The dashboard features a digital instrument cluster mounted behind the three-spoke steering wheel, while the centre console houses a compact HVAC display and a distinctive crystal-like gear selector. Optional passenger-side displays further enhance the futuristic ambience.

Toyota says the new concept embodies its “Mobility For All” philosophy, with President and CEO Koji Sato reaffirming that the Corolla “has always been a car for everyone.” Reflecting that spirit, the next-generation Corolla will offer multiple powertrain options, including fully electric, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid variants.

To support this, Toyota is developing a new range of 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre engines that will be smaller, lighter, and more efficient than current units. This powertrain family could debut with the production version of the new Corolla, which is expected to launch globally in late 2026 or early 2027.
